Congratulations are in order for these Foothill College community members and departments: Dr. Andrew Fraknoi, Robert Reese, Courtney Cooper and Wesley RussellSean Okuniewicz, and Preston Ni.

Astronomy professor Dr. Andrew Fraknoi had a book which he co-authored published by the National Science Teachers' Association.  The book, Solar Science: Exploring Sunspots, Seasons, Eclipses, and More is ideally timed to help teachers get middle-schoolers ready for August 21, 2017 - the day when millions of North Americans will have the rare chance to witness a total solar eclipse. The book contains more than three dozen activities that cover eclipses, the Sun's motions, the space weather caused by the Sun, the measures of time and seasons in daily life, and more.

Foothill College students Courtney Cooper and Wesley Russell had an op-ed published in the San Jose Mercury News. The article focused on the dangers of sex trafficking. (FIX LINKS)

Sean Okuniewicz, a Foothill College student, is currently appearing in the City Lights Theater Company's production of Tigers Be Still as troubled teen Zack. Okuniewicz currently studies theater at the college with Tom Gough.

Communication Studies faculty Preston Ni is a commentator for BBC articles and web forums. He covers a host of interpersonal and professional communication topics ranging from conflict resolution to interview success. His most recent commentary appears in a BBC Capital article on overcoming the fear of career advancement.
