Spanish program offers variety of courses to meet different needs

Whether you’re getting ready for travel or looking to expand your career opportunities, the Foothill College Spanish program has a class for you. For spring quarter, the department is offering classes for beginners, advanced learners and even for health care workers who want to learn basic medical terminology.

In SPAN 51, you’ll gain conversational skills useful within a medical setting.  You’ll learn parts of the body, common ailments and cultural differences related to health. The class is offered Mondays and Wednesdays at 6 p.m., making it ideal for those already working in the health care field.

Other Spanish classes are offered online. Student Valerie Diaz de Arce took both Elementary Spanish I and Elementary Spanish II without ever entering a physical classroom.  She’s going to Spain this summer to practice her new skils. “I work full-time and taking the class online fit my schedule.  Spanish is incredibly useful to me and it sounds beautiful,” Diaz de Arce said. “I could do a little every day and still have time to spend with my family. My professor was awesome, and I really have improved over just two quarters.”

Spring classes start April 10. To view the schedule and register,
